when you’re done with all the US Academy’s best, check out my blog for a list of all the British Academy’s winners as well…
they choose: Best Pic, Best British Pic (sometimes they’re the same film twice), Best Foreign Lang film (like the US award)…
ps – not all the US winners are very good but you already know that just from looking at the list… they had studio block voting in many years, and some terrific films won NO Oscars (Gangs of New York, Shawshank Redemption come to mind)
when you add in Cannes and a couple of other festivals, you can see about 250-300 “best films” overall… may as well, you’re gonna see so much pure garbage in your lifetime as well… films have deteriorated in the last 10-15 yrs… killed by dvd, pirating, studios only wanting $ winners, etc… look at all the awful sequels coming out, when the numbers get past 3, watch out! its now a long tv show!
