I’m looking at the blog stats and apparently, I get enough hits every day that I feel I can safely whip this one out without looking like a complete jerk.
Or, this could potentially backfire and I could look like…a complete jerk. If this works and you, o’ reader of mine, enjoy this, I can continue to do it on a consistent basis. If you don’t like it, all you have to do is tell me in the comments.
I’ve updated my Netflix queue and I’m giving anyone the chance to decide the next movie I review. Here’s how it works: I’m going to post the top ten movies in my queue, and all you have to do is clicky-click the little comment button below and tell me which one you want to see next. I’ve tried to select ten movies from a variety of genres so that there’s something for anyone in the list.
If you want. Or you could just point, laugh, and say, “Haha, jerk!”
The movie with the most people voting in the “Yay! That one!” column gets delivered to me next. I’ll give it until Tuesday at 6:00 p.m., Central Standard Time for anyone out there to comment.
Without further delay, here are the ten movies, in no particular order:
- Bloodsport
- Willow
- The Darjeeling Limited
- I Spit On Your Grave
- Cool Hand Luke
- Jawbreaker
- Shinjuku Triad Society
- Prom Night
- The Dreamers
- In The Name Of The Father
I tried to make it pretty diverse, I promise.
I’ll vote for The Dreamers.
And I don’t think you’re a complete jerk. :)
Awww, thanks, J.D. Just for clarification, I don’t think I am actually a jerk. I think I’m the greatest, most fabulous movie blogger to ever live, really. ;)
I’ve heard a lot about The Dreamers so it’ll be interesting to see how it turns out.
I’m voting for Willow. I have fond memories of watching this movie as a child and I’m going to go out on a limb and say you might like Val Kilmer in this one.
Matt, if he’s not all puffy style Val Kilmer, I’m down!
I hear good things about Willow, I’ve just never seen it. I should be shamed, I know.
I love Darjeeling Limited, so that would be my pick.
Or The Dreamers which I have not seen, but it is in my list too!
This is fun, you should do it always. You totally are the greatest, and it is good you know it.
Nick, I’ll add it to the list. I’ll count The Darjeeling Limited as your vote and load up my queue accordingly; The Dreamers, Willow and The Darjeeling Limited. Since I have three going back today, it should work out nicely.
And you’re too kind, Nick! Noooo, you’re the greatest! (Seriously, you always write so nicely!)
Lol I try, we all do. That is what makes us special ;)
That lineup sounds great, cannot wait to read the outcome.
I can’t believe you’ve never seen Willow! That movie was a staple of my childhood. I own the LD for chris’sakes (and I don’t even own an LD player).
That being said, you gotta review Bloodsport, for-fucking-sure! Van Damme movies are in a class by themselves. But, you did review House of the Dead (sort of) by request, so I’ll say: review whatever you want! it’s your blog!
andrew, yeah, yeah, yeah, you’ll get your Bloodsport review alright! ;) It’s next in line.
Yes, I should probably be dragged out into the street and beaten for not seeing Willow, but… I fail, what can I say?
review whatever you want! it’s your blog!
Ah, yes, but I also do my best to please my (limited) readership!
Eh, there’s about a thousand “essential” movies that one person or another hasn’t seen. There’s quite a few still on my ‘To See’ list!
Look at you! A blogger to the people! Awesome.
I do try, andrew, I do try.
I’ve actually only ever seen about 15 minutes of Bloodsport, so there you go. I need to sit all the way through it. I’m actually willing to sit through Sudden Death to see that scene where Van Damme beats up Iceburgh.
“I’ve actually only ever seen about 15 minutes of Bloodsport, so there you go.”
You will soon find out that 15 minutes is plenty.
You watch it and tell me if my synopsis is correct: Van Damme kicks some Asian and/or Russian dudes asses. There’s some military involvement. Hot chick. More martial arts. Rinse, repeat.
andrew, that sounds like my kind of movie alright. Have you seen the sort-of self-parodying movie Jean Claude Van Damme is doing? I saw a trailer for it and it looks like it’s going to be good!
I have not seen it! What’s it called?
